Cultist Master is a third eraShadowwizard with a nice trick: for a sacrifice of roughly half their life they gain a tank to block the melee fighters and tear them apart.
With the second upgrade, the Call Horrors ability creates a two upgraded Nightcrawlers. Alone, the Cultist Master has an attack rating of 615, but two upgraded, frenzied Nightcrawlers adds an 2235 damage. With healing, this ability can be used repeatedly, greatly increasing the usefulness of this unit.
Call Horrors creates a limitless source of usable corpses with no attached power cost. A single, fully upgraded, Cultist Master is capable of generating over 4200 life points worth of corpses every minute through this special ability.
Every 3 seconds, unit casts a dark bolt that deals 70 damage to enemies in a 5m radius around its target, up to 110 in total.
Activate to summon 1 Nightcrawler with Frenzy enabled. Nightcrawler has the same upgrade level as the unit itself. Every summoning will reduce own life points by 400. Cannot be used anymore once life points have been reduced below 400. Reusable every 30 seconds.
Healing - The Cultist Master really comes into his own when able to summon the Nightcrawlers, but to do this is to sacrifice his own health. Healing is a big bonus to counter the sacrifice and keep playing the same ability.
Buildings - Because of the slight regeneration that all structures give nearby allied units that are out of combat, the Cultist Masters are an exceptionally powerful siege force when stationed near an enemy base along with something like the Church of Negation, for example.
Soulshatter - The Nightcrawlers can be used to provide fuel for the explosion.
Motivate - Use Motivate to sacrifice a Nightcrawler to boost all the others Nightcrawlers attack
Altar Of Chaos- (near monument or well) Cultist Master can use the summoned nightcrawlers to charge the Altar.
